Database Engineer (Pipeline)

Location: Washington, DC

Tenacious Solutions, LLC is seeking skilled Database Engineers with strong ETL experience to design, implement and maintain enterprise-level data solutions in the DC Metropolitan area.

We are building a network of qualified candidates to help meet current and future openings. Although this posting may not result in an immediate hire, applicants will be considered for upcoming opportunities that match their qualifications and business demand.

Primary job duties and responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and optimize ETL processes for large-scale data integration.
  • Develop and maintain relational and dimensional data models to support business intelligence, reporting, and analytics.
  • Work with complex data types, including JSON, XML, and other semi-structured formats.
  • Transform raw data into structured datasets while preserving data integrity and quality.
  • Collaborate with data architects, analysts, and application developers to define data requirements and ensure schema consistency.
  • Implement best practices for data governance, data validation, and data quality monitoring.
  • Troubleshoot performance issues in ETL pipelines and database operations.
  • Document data models, transformation logic, and metadata for ongoing maintenance and knowledge sharing

The ideal candidates will have:

  • BS degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Previous experience working either in or with government environments.
  • At least seven years of experience designing, developing, testing, and implementing ETL solutions for enterprise-scale data analytics environments.
  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance or higher.
  • Full understanding of Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing data models and managing complex data structures such as JSON, XML, and semi-structured data to support reliable integration and advanced analytical processes.
  • Experience with database systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, star/snowflake schemas, and OLAP technology.
  • Experience with visualization and analytical technologies including Tableau, ArcGIS, PowerBI, and Azure Development Framework.
  • Strong SQL programming skills and performance tuning experience.
  • Hands-on experience with data modeling methodologies (conceptual, logical, physical models).
  • Hands-on experience reviewing, optimizing, and restructuring software code to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Experience working within Agile development environments and frameworks.
  • Experience establishing policies and procedures for secure data management and backup operations.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages like Python or Java for ETL automation is a plus.
  • Proven ability to communicate with program product owner, government leadership, customer, and team members to report statuses and blockers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Anticipated salary range is $100,000 - $160,000. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, clearance level, and relevant education or training.
